Primary School

In Cameroon, primary school provides primary education.

The various primary school classes in the French-speaking sub-system are :

  • SIL (Section d'Initiation au Langage),
  • CP (Cours Préparatoire), 
  • CE1 (Cours Elémentaire 1)
  • CE2 (Cours Elémentaire 2)
  • CM1 (Cours Moyen 1)
  • CM2 (Cours Moyen 2)

In the English-speaking sub-system, the different primary classes are :

  • Class 1
  • Class 2
  • Class 3
  • Class 4
  • Class 5
  • Class 6

 

In the final year of the primary education, pupils sit the CEP (Certificat d'Etudes Primaires) exam and the Concours d'entrée en 6e or Concours d'entrée en 1ère année for the French-speaking sub-system and the FSLC (First School Leaving Certificate) and the Common Entrance exam for the English-speaking sub-system.
