Government High School

The lycée is a public secondary school in Cameroon. In the English-speaking sub-system, it is called GHS (Government High School). The specificity of the Government High School is the existence of the second cycle of secondary education. Generally speaking, however, all Government High School in Cameroon have a first cycle and a second cycle.

A Government High School may offer general, technical and/or vocational education.

In the French-speaking sub-system of general education, the first cycle comprises classes 6e, 5e, 4e and 3e. The second cycle comprises the classes of seconde, première and terminale.

General education in the English-speaking sub-system comprises Form 1, Form 2, Form 3, Form 4 and Form 5 classes in the first cycle. In the second cycle, the classes are Lower Sith and Upper Sith.

Technical and/or vocational education comprises the 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year classes in the first cycle. The second cycle comprises the second, first and final years.
