GCE OL (General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level)

The GCE OL (General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level) is a diploma awarded at the end of the first cycle of general secondary education in the English-speaking sub-system. Its equivalent in the French-speaking sub-system is the BEPC (Brevet d'Etudes du Premier Cycle).

The GCE OL examination is held every year for pupils in Form 5.

It is important to remember that the first cycle of secondary education in the English-speaking sub-system lasts five years instead of four in the French-speaking sub-system, while the second cycle in the English-speaking sub-system lasts two years and the second cycle in the French-speaking sub-system lasts three years.
