Primary education
Thu 24 Aug 2023 - 18:10 - Sun 24 Mar 2024 - 14:21 - 12118
The official age for entry to primary school is 6.
Each sub-system consists of three levels:
- Level 1, which comprises SIL (Section d'Initiation au Langage) and CP (Cours Préparatoire)
- Level 2: CE1 (Cours élémentaire 1) and CE2 (Cours élémentaire 2)
- Level 3: CM1 (Cours Moyen 1) and CM2 (Cours Moyen 2).
Primary education is fundamental and compulsory in Cameroon.
The basic notions (knowing how to read, write, calculate, explore one's environment, etc.) enable the individual to flourish in society.
At the end of six years of study in the French-speaking sub-system and seven years in the English-speaking sub-system, the CEP (Certificat d'Etude Primaire) or the FSLC (First school Leaving Certificate) leads pupils to vocational training or entry to collège.
