CAP (Certificat d'Aptitude Professionnelle)

The CAP (Certificat d'Aptitude Professionnelle) is a technical secondary education qualification in the French-speaking sub-system. It is awarded at the end of the 4th year of the first cycle of technical education after passing the relevant examination. 

In the English-speaking sub-system, the diploma awarded at the end of the first cycle of technical education is the TVEE IL (Technical and Vocational Education Examination Intermediate Level). It is important to remember that the first cycle of secondary education in the English-speaking sub-system lasts five years instead of four for the French-speaking sub-system, while the second cycle in the English-speaking sub-system lasts two years and the second cycle in the French-speaking sub-system lasts three years. It is therefore Form 5 students who sit the TVEE IL exam.
