Competitive Entrance Examination in Faculty of Medecine - University of Garoua : all you need to know

A written competition examination for the recruitment of fifty (50) students in the first year of the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Garoua is open for the academic year 2024/2025. Candidates will sit for the examinations at the Garoua, Maroua, Ngaoundéré and Yaoundé centres.

 

The competition date is set for 24 September 2024.

 

Places distribution

The places available are distributed as follows:

  • Biomedical Sciences branches :
    • Biomedical courses = 15 places
  • Medical and Health Sciences :
    • Nursing courses = 20 places
    • Radiology and Medical Imaging courses = 15 places

 

Who can apply?

The competition is open in a single session to Cameroonians of both sexes who hold a Baccalauréat series C, D, E, F8, TIC, a General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A Level) in at least three scientific subjects and a GCE O Level, or a diploma recognised as equivalent by the Minister of Higher Education. "Religious Knowledge" is not taken into account.

 

Candidates who are nationals of member countries of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) and who have ratified the texts relating to the national treatment of students, and who can prove that they have the required qualifications, will be admitted to sit the exam under the same conditions as their Cameroonian counterparts.

 

 

What are the deadlines for submitting applications?

 

Applications must reach the Schooling Department of the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Garoua no later than 20 September 2024 at 3.30 pm.

 

Composition of the application file

  • A registration form available on the MINESUP website, in the regional delegations for secondary education in Adamaoua, the Centre, the Far North and the North and at the schooling service of the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Garoua.
     
  • A receipt of payment of the sum of 20,000 (twenty thousand) CFA Francs for registration fees to the Société Générale Cameroun (SGC) (account No. 10003-00700-22071275110-74).
     
  • A certified photocopy of the Baccalaureate, GCE AL or a certified certificate of successful completion of one of these diplomas.
     
  • Certified photocopies of the Baccalauréat and Probatoire transcripts or a certified copy of the GCE A/Level and GCE O/Level diplomas.
     
  • Certified photocopies of birth certificates less than 03 (three) months old.
     
  • A medical certificate issued by a government doctor stating that the applicant is fit to pursue higher education.
     
  • Five 4X4 passport photos (write the name on back)
     
  • An envelope (A4 format) stamped by the post office (with the weight of the enclosures and the applicant's address).

 

 

Only candidates submitting a complete file will be allowed to compete.

 

The different parts of the competition

The competition consists of two parts

  • A study of the school file (coefficient 2, i.e. 30% of the final mark)
  • Written tests (coefficient 5, i.e. 70% of the final mark)

 

The study of the academic record (coefficient 2) is based on :

  • The results of the probationary or GCE O Level examination
  • Baccalauréat or GCE A Level results
  • The number of repeats

 

The written tests are as follows:

  • A Life and Earth Sciences test (SVT) consisting of multiple-choice questions lasting one hour, with a coefficient of 2;
  • A Chemistry test consisting of multiple-choice questions lasting one hour and with a coefficient of 1;
  • A Physics test consisting of multiple-choice questions lasting one hour, with a coefficient of 1;
  • A General Knowledge test consisting of one-hour multiple-choice questions on current affairs, with a coefficient of 1.

 

 

Each paper in the written examination is marked from zero to one hundred (0 to 100). Any mark of less than twenty obtained in any of the written tests is eliminatory.

 

Syllabus of competition 

The examination syllabus is that of the Baccalauréat C or D, or the GCE A Level in the subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics.

 

 

The Rector of the University of Garoua, the Director of University Accreditation and Quality and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Garoua are each responsible for the execution of this decision, which will be registered and communicated wherever necessary.
